Marketed as “the most technologically advanced smartphone ever”, the Nokia N95 8GB boasts a range of astonishing and useful features, including GPS satellite navigation, a 5 megapixel camera complete with autofocus, 3G video calling and much more. There has however been debate within the mobile phone industry as to whether it can live up to the hype. 

Look and Design
As is usual for phones containing so much advanced technology, the Nokia N95 is noticeably larger than most other phones on the market today. Despite boasting a sliding cover design, the phone weighs 120g and is more bulky than an average mobile phone. Yet despite the larger handset, the buttons on the phone are concealed beneath the slide cover and offer a useful alternative to the more visible navigation system (although the slide cover includes a 5-way menu button which can be used when the phone is closed). However, the manufacturers have designed the phone in a range of colours (silver, black and red) for a more attractive look.

The iPhone has already taken the ‘smartphone’ market by storm, and Apple want to expand on this success with a more user-friendly feel to their latest development on the iPhone brand. Can this expensive, high-end device outshine its competitors?

Look and Design
Apple are famous for their polished design, and the 3G iPhone is no exception, staying true to the sleek chrome flat screen which characterised the original iPhone. The touchscreen feature has also been retained, with many functions of the original iPhone still as useful as they have ever been – for example, the clever scrolling features of the photo gallery, which need only a stroke of the finger. The fluidity of the iPhone design makes both looking at it and using it a joy, and Apple have certainly retained their characteristically clever, yet simple design features on this advanced iPhone.
